Career & Employment Support

Career guidance, support for trainees and students, and connections with Japanese employers

Overview

VAJ supports Vietnamese workers in Japan across the full career arc — from technical-intern trainees and newly arrived international students to professionals changing jobs or planning a long-term path in Japan. The core program is VAWORK, complemented by topic-specific seminars and first-hand stories from the community.

VAWORK — Worker support

VAWORK is the consultation portal that VAJ operates for Vietnamese workers in Japan. The October 2024 – September 2025 program received 531 cases and completed support for 247 cases, with an NPS of 81.25.

Consultations focused on labor relations, contracts, job changes, work visas, and issues tied to the working environment in Japan.

Support for trainees & students

The Vietnamese community in Japan includes roughly 220,000 technical-intern trainees and 80,000 international students. These two groups are a priority for VAJ's career programs:

  • Orientation for international students — seminars on settling in to life in Japan: what to pack, how to live, and how to study (see bulletins from 2021–2022).
  • Engineer & work visa seminars — held with lawyers and specialists, both in person and online.
  • Community success stories — featuring entrepreneurs such as Mobilus, the first Vietnamese-founded company to list on a Japanese stock exchange.

Corporate partners

VAJ welcomes partnerships with Japanese and Vietnamese companies that care about the Vietnamese workforce in Japan — through program sponsorship, participation in career seminars, or transparent and sustainable recruiting connections.
