Upcoming Event: Book Camp — A Day of Connection & Gratitude
Book Camp — A Day of Connection & Gratitude is a program for Vietnamese families living in Japan. Its goal is to help children naturally maintain and develop their Vietnamese through a vibrant, lived environment that connects them with nature and with their own emotions.
This project is funded by the Nippon Philanthropic Foundation (日本フィランソロピック財団) and run by the Vietnamese Association in Japan (NPO 日本在住ベトナム人協会 / VAJ).
Program Highlights
Camping & Reading on the theme of “Thank You”
This is more than a reading session — it’s a real emotional experience for children, all in Vietnamese:
-
Lively, approachable storytelling in Vietnamese
-
Age-appropriate questions and discussions where kids can share what they think
-
Writing their very first thank-you note from the heart
Through these activities, children will:
-
Learn to say thank you naturally
-
Understand their own and others’ feelings
-
Develop empathy and linguistic thinking
Mini Library — A Living Vietnamese-Language Space
A rare environment in Japan where children can be “immersed” in Vietnamese all day long:
-
Many engaging titles for children and parents alike
-
Free reading and exploration based on interest
-
A space to learn language through real experience
Games & Connection
-
Language games that grow children’s Vietnamese vocabulary naturally
-
Active games that build confidence, cooperation, and friendships
-
Meaningful, fun prizes throughout
For the Whole Family
Book Camp isn’t just for the kids — it’s also a place for parents to:
-
Meet other Vietnamese families in similar circumstances
-
Share stories about raising children in a foreign country
-
Feel, deeply, that “I am not alone”
