Introducing the New Logo of the Vietnamese Association in Japan (VAJ)
Dear Compatriots,
On February 12, 1983, the Vietnamese Association in Japan was founded with the immediate mission of protecting the rights of the Vietnamese refugee community and helping them integrate into life in Japan.
Over the past 40 years, the association has worked to fulfill this mission, helping many of our fellow Vietnamese to settle into stable lives, and along the way making meaningful contributions to Japanese society.
Today, with the rising waves of Vietnamese students and technical interns coming to Japan, and following the resolutions of last year’s general assembly, the association has updated its direction to better fit the current situation. We are committed to becoming a place of support for the new generation of Vietnamese in Japan in a spirit that rejects discrimination, embraces the diversity of every member, and strengthens connections among us.
To embody this renewed direction and to strengthen the unity of our community, earlier this year the 2023–2026 Executive Board decided to replace the logo used since 1983 with the new logo shown below.
“The image of the Lạc bird, the sacred bird of Vietnam, soaring with wings spread wide expresses the strong aspiration and unyielding spirit of the Vietnamese people overcoming every storm and trial.
On its outstretched wings, the Lạc bird carries the mission of the Vietnamese Association in Japan: to walk alongside our compatriots and help them overcome hardship together.
The yellow background behind the Lạc bird represents the golden skin color of the Vietnamese people and also evokes warmth like sunlight and happiness. The yellow also expresses the joy, vitality, and enthusiasm of the younger generation walking together with the association.”
Dear members of our community,
On the sacred wings of the Lạc bird, we hope that this new logo will reach more and more people and resonate with each message conveyed through the activities of the Vietnamese Association in Japan.
We sincerely hope that each of you, upon seeing this new logo, will quickly become one of the first messengers carrying its image and meaning to even more people in both the Vietnamese and Japanese communities. We thank you all wholeheartedly.
