Announcement: Survey on Vietnamese Refugees in Japan 2025-2026
ANNOUNCEMENT: SURVEY PROGRAM
Vietnamese Refugees in Japan 2025-2026
Dear fellow Vietnamese in Japan,
To better understand the lives, perspectives, and contributions of the Vietnamese refugee community in Japan, the Vietnamese Association in Japan (VAJ) is pleased to announce the launch of the Survey on Vietnamese Refugees in Japan 2025-2026.
Eligible participants: All Vietnamese refugees currently living in Japan, including those who arrived through the ODP (Orderly Departure Program) family-reunification scheme.
Survey objectives:
-
To paint a comprehensive picture of the living conditions, hopes, and degree of social integration of the Vietnamese refugee community — a community that has been in Japan since 1975 and forms the bedrock and foundation of the broader Vietnamese community here.
-
To analyze the data using sound statistical methods, then translate the findings into concrete policy recommendations for government agencies, associations, and support organizations, with the aim of improving quality of life and social integration for our community.
-
To shed light on the truth about the Vietnamese community at a time when xenophobic currents are on the rise. Objective survey results should help the public form a more accurate understanding of the role Vietnamese people play in Japan, correct misinformation, and contribute to a fairer view from Japanese public opinion.
-
To affirm the Vietnamese community’s standing as one of the largest and most influential foreign communities in Japan.
We sincerely hope you will participate actively and answer honestly. This survey is conducted with the endorsement of the Foundation for the Welfare and Education of the Asian People (アジア福祉教育財団). All information you provide will be kept strictly confidential and used only for research and statistical purposes.
