Invitation to the Hung Kings' Commemoration Ceremony 2021
“Wherever we wander, far or near,
We turn back home for the Hung Kings’ day.”
Dear fellow Vietnamese,
Every year in early March of the lunar calendar, all Vietnamese people turn together toward their roots to honor the Hung Kings, the founders of our nation.
This year, with the pandemic still uncertain, the Vietnamese Association in Japan (VAJ) has decided not to hold the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Ceremony on the usual large scale. There will be no cultural performances or banquet. In their place, in light of the increasingly aggressive Chinese Communist actions to seize Vietnamese land and islands, VAJ will hold a discussion forum titled “Honoring Our Ancestors, Protecting Our Land” immediately after the incense offering ceremony. Two overseas speakers will join the discussion online: engineer Ngo Trong Duc and Dr. Nguyen Do Thanh Phong.
Please refer to the attached poster for full details of this year’s ceremony.
VAJ warmly invites you to spare some of your precious time to join us, to share solemn moments turning toward our ancestors in the spirit of “drinking water, remembering the source,” and to listen and exchange views on the Chinese Communist Party’s hegemonic actions and on what we ourselves must do now to help protect our homeland.
Coming together on this important day is also an opportunity for Vietnamese people to set aside differences, return together to our common roots, strengthen our solidarity, and reaffirm our commitment to defending our country and honoring the Vietnamese people.
With deepest respect,
Vietnamese Association in Japan (VAJ)
President Nguyen Phuong Khanh
