Seminar report (held on August 15, 2026): VA-WORK Vol.11 – Seminar “Japanese Pension – Benefits Vietnamese People Should Not Miss”
On August 15, 2026, the VA-WORK Project – Consultation Portal for Vietnamese Workers in Japan of the Vietnamese Association in Japan (NPO 日本在住ベトナム人協会 / VAJ) held its 11th free online seminar on the theme “Japanese Pension – Benefits Vietnamese People Should Not Miss”.
The program featured a presentation by Mr. 及川 太助 (Oikawa Taisuke) – 特定社会保険労務士, a specialist advisor to the VA-WORK project.
During the seminar, participants systematically learned about Japan’s public pension system, including old-age pension (老齢年金), disability pension (障害年金), and survivors’ pension (遺族年金), along with important conditions and procedures that foreign residents living in Japan should be aware of.
In particular, the program devoted much time to explaining issues very close to the lives of Vietnamese people in Japan, such as pension participation periods, paying 国民年金 when changing jobs, exemption and reduction procedures in applicable cases, the impact of 未納 status, as well as real-life cases related to 障害年金 and 遺族年金.
The program materials were prepared bilingually in Japanese and Vietnamese, combined with explanations in Vietnamese, helping participants easily follow the inherently complex content of Japan’s social security system.
Through this seminar, VA-WORK hopes to help the Vietnamese community better understand the pension system, proactively fulfill their obligations correctly, and at the same time not miss out on their legitimate benefits while living and working in Japan.
